The House is one mile from the River Urr, a somewhat underestimated river which
more often than not produces good runs of Salmon and Sea Trout. We are situated
near the Castle Douglas Angling Association water, but tickets are also available
for Dalbeattie water. The river is stocked annually with Brown Trout to supplement
the Wild Brownies.
The season opens on the 25th February and closes on the 30th November for Salmon
and Sea Trout. Brown Trout from 1st April to 6th October.
Other rivers are within easy reach such as the Nith, Annan, Cree and Bladnoch.
Several local lochs offer fly only fishing for Brown and Rainbow Trout in some
of the area's most beautiful scenery. Galloway has always been renowned for its
coarse fishing and an abundance of lochs are at hand. |
